Flipkart started as an online bookstore and became popular for its services via word-of-mouth. The four year old startup met with great success, grew rapidly and now sells more than books ( phones, computers, games, music, movies etc ).
Flipkart's focus on customer satisfaction gained them appreciation over social media and outside of it. I've got to hear good things about them from near and dear ones. From a price point it is a benchmark now, I do check for prices at Flipkart whether I am buying or not.
Advertising effort by Flipkart started with Web banners making their appearance a few months back, still selling books. Banner looked like it was generated out of a template, I did not like it. Flipkart sells books, I know, but with a picture of a mouse it seemed like an ad for a pesticide. It looked amature and unfinished.
My opinions on the Flipkart TV ads are similar."No kidding, No worries" is a vague tagline for an online megastore. The ads stick to a template - all have couple of kids talking about problems with online shopping and how Flipkart is a solution, but with voices of grown ups. I like the problem and solution strategy but not the casting. I think the casting trivializes the problem - Why should I take a conversation between kids seriously?. Also, the conversation between the kids should have ended with the solution because thats more important and not the joke that follows.
