Sony would not have got a better brand ambassador than Kareena Kapoor to promote their new Vaio X notebook. A notebook that weighs 655gms!(check the pictures at PC World Facebook fan page). Theres already been copious news ever since the movie "Tashan" about Kareena Kapoor and her size zero look. A match that commoners will easily be able to detect and recall.
What did strike to me on first look is that the outdoor hoarding that I saw seemed very similar to the Dell Adamo hoardings that were there a few months back. The difference being Kareena - and thats huge. Any laptop that now wants to promote itself on basis of size and weight runs the risk of falling into the Kareena category and hence Sony. other brands will soon need to find their own differentiating grounds before the next Sony campaign takes it over with "Performance" as the central idea.
When most other brands are trying to use the Kareena-Saif combo to their benefit, it will be interesting to see how head-on competitors Lenovo and Sony will use their ambassadors.
