This Lenovo IdeaPad ad ends saying that Ideapad is the fun something that dads will say yes to and I just cannot correlate it back to everything else shown in the ad. It starts with a angry older man dragging a young teenage boy. The boy by the way is holding on to the old man's leg. The boy is shown feeling humiliated and he continues to do more humilating things like looking up skirts. This is an idea of fun? for whom? All along it seemed like an advertisement for a product targetted at the older man.
Quite a few things that felt out of place and disconnected in this advertisement. The look on the older mans face, the whole act of dragging someone and at the end asking "whats your idea of fun?" - i cant really connect them together into a central theme or idea. And, maybe thats why i'm not able to connect with the ad itself.
I had lots of questions too at the end of it. Shouldn't an ad for a product thats supposed to be fun be demonstrate the fun? Why should somebody just take their word for it? Is it so difficult to show kids having fun with a computer thats acceptable to parents?
Is the advertisement trying to convince parents that ideapad is a good product/investment for their kids? Even that message does not come out clearly - shwoing an old man with a great lifestyle smile at a bunch of laptops is not good enough.
Is the ad just trying to get the kids to pile onto their parents as demonstrated in the ad? or is it empathising the pains of a kids to get parental approval? Thats an eternal battle that every kids fight. Its difficult for the parents too to give into every demand of their kids. Interesting fight - if this is what the advertisement is about, then maybe it just needs a different execution.

The ad has perfect timing and does leave a smile on my face every time i see this.. I don’t think Lenevo has failed miserably with this ad. This ad is getting discussed for the humor it carries..
