Havell's getting really desperate to kindle a conscience in the public to save energy. I think there are a few ads in the series - but one left me especially disgusted.
The ad shows an executioner unhappy with his job, not being able to live with the guilt of his job, coming home to a sad little house - and the ad ends with the reassurance that atleast you can save 40% of energy by using Havell's lamps, to redeem yourself.
Really - this is possibly where some advertising standards need to come into action. The ad is demeaning to an entire profession. The tone is condescending and the idea is really bad. Most importantly, will this ad make me want to buy a Havells lamp and save energy? Not at all. I want to forget I saw the ad at all!
40% energy savings is an amazing value proposition. With an increasing eco consciousness, Havells could do much better than this, in giving prospects a reason to choose their brand. Making an entire profession look pathetic is not the best route. Not at all!
