The train and car sequence in the new Fiat Palio TVC may not help much in its sales. What does it have in it for someone to decide or even think about buying it?. What does it have in it for anyone to even get interested in the ad?
1. It does not show off the car.
2. It does not have any one in the TVC that the audience will recognize.
3. Everyone in the train is looking or hearing into their phones making it seem more like a cell phone service ad.
4. In a approximately 30 sec ad the car gets attention for hardly half that time.
I think Sachin Tendulkar had a lot to do with the sales of first generation of Fiat Palio in India. I had everyone looking at my car when it passed by and saying out "hey look sachin's car". I was floored by the Micheal Schumacher ad where in he waits for pit crew attention at a fuel station.
This "mere sapnon ki raani" thing is just not right. What will we have next ? some one singing "chudi nahi yeh mera dil hai" holding the steering wheel !!.
The car definitely deserves better.
