When I first noticed this ad recently, I watched it with interest. I like the slow build-up, the calm voiceover and the nice, simple things said. And then the Amway name appeared - and I had to go naaah!
I have never used Amway products so can't really judge whether they do justice to this ad. The problem is that the minute I hear the word Amway, I run miles - petrified that someone will try to make me a 'businesswoman' or sell me stuff. Amway almost brought in multi-level marketing in India - unfortunately for lay consumers like me, that is not a good thing! I am scared of the brand!
On another front, if a Unilever or P&G were to run this commercial, I would believe it. They have built individual product brands, have a loyal customer base for specific products and brands and now can claim that they can make our lives better overall. In Amway's case I find it difficult to believe that they do eeeeeverything well. You haven't proved that to me yet. So, sorry, it does not ring true or possible at all.
Obviously Amway does not have the marketing muscle of the Unilevers of the world. So they cannot invest in building individual brands. But then the 'corporate' ad needs to do something else - it can't just say all our products are brilliant, and I don't have the time to tell you how or why. Is it the convenience of buying it all from one source? Is it the costs they don't pass on to customers and invest in the R&D for their products? What is it that makes Amway special? Why should I not buy my Dove or Lizol, and buy their alternate product?
But I like the ad. In itself, its a nicely executed ad. It just does not work for Amway according to me
